Life's Tough -- Get a Helmet!

Well, seeing as we are at the half way point of the semester NEXT WEEK - I thought I should write a bit about what's a happenin around here... mmmkay?

Well, before I get in to semester stuff... I'm gonna talk about this weekend. haha on Friday (14th) I went to the Opera with Jeni and Liz!!! :) :) I've missed Jeni so much. I'm sad I never got to live with her. :( But - we had SO much fun!! We saw Beethoven's Fidelio. It was way good. The story was so funny and the music was pretty good. It was a bit slower than my taste - but still really good. :) This is us.

Right outside the theater. I'm sad that I forgot to take my date stamp off from documenting every inch of the apartment before I moved in... oh well. It's off now.
Inside the theater. :) Sorry it's all blurry... I felt weird using a flash in there. It's SUCH a gorgeous theater!

Anyway. It's been a fun weekend. :) After the Opera we went to Olive Garden for some delicious food!! :) I had so much fun. It was a much needed break from Provo life.

AND - I think the best thing that has happened this semester has been my three beautiful fishies!!! They're called Glofish. SO CUTE!! They are hot pink, neon yellow, and bright blue with yellow stripes. I seriously love my fish.

This isn't great - but you can see pink and blue. :) Blurry...

They are SO fast and interactive!! They come and greet me every morning by jumping at the top of the cage begging for food. :) It's so cute. I have never had such hyperactive fish in my life. Sadly though - I spent this weekend at the petshop trying to find Ick medicine. :( Pink fish has ick... and normally I wouldn't spend money on medicine... for a fish... but I'm sick of losing my fish to ick. :( AND I plan on having a huge aquarium someday... and ick is super common in aquariums. In fact, it said that fish owners are 99% likely to see ick at least once in their tank. So, I got some medicine and we'll hope that it works!! The pink one is my favorite! hhh... we'll see. It's been so happy though. I love my fish.

In all reality though - I think I can sum up most of this semester by just saying "babysitting." I've done a lot of babysitting for the Squires this semester, and I seriously can't get enough of it. I love those kids so much. We have SO much fun. :) I love the Squires. They've given me so much and done so much for me. I honestly get so excited when they ask me to babysit. I think I would go crazy without it. I went this weekend and it was so needed. I loved just getting away and hanging out with the kids, and later Dave and Miriam. They have such good advice, and they're just so fun to talk to. :) I am so glad they're here.

This is just us messing around on my webcam.

 Cupid Isaac. lol

 Matthew's silly face

Ouch. I think Daniel's face is perfect here! haha

I LOVE this picture!! HAHA!
Rachel is just so precious. I love her so much.

So, if fish aren't the best part of this semester - babysitting is. haha Isaac asked me the other day if I would tell him about 'my boyfriend.' haha!! I can't believe this kid is old enough to know about things like that... but anyways.. I told him I didn't have a boyfriend and he was like "Well, tell me about some of your friends that are boys." I thought for a second and I was like... Oh goodness... I have guy friends from last year, but I don't have anything new to report... that's kinda pathetic. But I just said "Well... what do you want to know Isaac?" and he goes "Tell me about the guys you hang out with most." So I said - completely honestly "Uhh... that is you and Daniel and Matthew!" hahaha I laughed, and Isaac goes "Umm... that's pathetic." HAHA!! I just got told by a 9 year old. But that's okay. :P He told me I could be their friend so I could have guy friends. haha I'm so glad. :) I love babysitting... hhh...

Anyways... I suppose I'll get back to the school world now. . .

Wow. This semester has seriously been a whirlwind of up and down and right and left and to and fro and back and forth and ... if you haven't gotten the picture yet, it's been CRAZY! And as I sit here and try to define exactly how it's been crazy? I have no idea. Like, I have nothing to say. And yet - we all know I do. I always have something to say. Wayyy too much in fact. Anyways. We'll start with classes I suppose. Yeah?

Well, I feel it only appropriate to start with Human Anatomy. My first class of the week you ask? No. In fact, not even close. But, really - Human Anatomy is the only class I care about this semester. It's kind of hard actually because if I'm studying for any other class, I feel like I'm wasting time and I should really be studying for Human Anatomy. Even though I know very well that I still have to study for those classes too. But whatever. I LOVE Human Anatomy. It is seriously the most fascinating class I've ever taken. I have two hours of lecture on Tuesday from 2-4 every week, and two hours of lab on Wednesday from 12-2 every week. Lecture is so fascinating, I love it. I learned that hiccups come from an over stimulation of the Phrenic Nerve, that when you get red eyes in pictures? It's really your blood reflecting back when the flash lights up your pupils. I learned goosebumps come from the Auricular Nerve, and getting goosebumps is our anamalistic instinct to poof up like kitties do when they're scared or cold. I've learned SO many cool things in lecture. I love it. Every week I get so excited to go back to lecture. It's pathetic really. ---- LAB. Lab is terrifying! haha We work on cadavers, which was absolutely terrifying at first. But now, it's so cool. :) I never thought I'd say that. Anyways - we learn about 100 new terms every week. It was really overwhelming at first, but I'm used to it now. I've touched human muscles. How weird is that? I've handled the deltoid, external abdominal oblique, pectoralis major and minor, gastrocnemius... and MANY more. lol I think my favorite muscle is the Sartorius. :) For some reason it reminds me of my car... a Taurus, and that just makes me happy. :) I hate the lower leg muscles. I mean, I love them... they're nice to have. But I hate memorizing them. haha! And OH MY GOODNESS!!! I held a human brain!!! BRAINSSSS!!!! Coolest thing EVER. I get so excited in lab to get in and get my hands on things! ... is that creepy? Probably. But it's just so fascinating!! hhh... We just took our lab midterm which covered over 600 terms. It was insane. And I didn't do very well. :( But... whatever. It's still an awesome class. :)

I think now I'll just go in order of the week. MWF afternoons at 11 I have Family Finance. It's a good class. I LOVE Dr. Israelson. He's SUCH a cool teacher, and he's SO hilarious! I always laugh way too hard in that class. It's a good thing too because otherwise I'd never go to class. It's really easy. I didn't add it until the day of add/drop deadline, so I missed pretty much the first three weeks of class. I still got a 93% on the midterm! haha WOOT! Love it. Anyway, I also really like it because it's actually stuff we'll use in life. It's nice being forced to learn about taxes and insurance and stuff. I need to pay more attention to that stuff... someday I will.

Next I have Family Processes on MW at 4. It's interesting enough I suppose. It's for my minor, so... ya know. haha I like the lectures - Dr. Willoughby is cool. But, our first real assignment was this paper in which we were supposed to find strengths and weaknesses in our family. I liked the 'finding strengths' part, but the 'finding weakness' part made me really mad. I don't think it's healthy to look for that stuff. So I made up a family!! Mom has twin siblings named Alice and Jacob. And they were born wayyyy before Twilight. So I didn't get it from there! haha Anyways. They're way dysfunctional siblings. I'm grateful they are too - otherwise I wouldn't have had anything to write about! :P Long story short, I got a 98% on that paper!! HAH! It is a good class, and I just aced my midterm - so that's always happy!! I got to see the cool little "CONGRATULATIONS!!" on the screen in the testing center. :) Happy!!

Then, on Tuesday and Thursday at 12 I have D&C. I love Brother Perkins. He's has so much passion for the scriptures and teaches by the spirit. It's such a great class. :) AND - his tests are open book. So that is just marvelous. And Aimee is in my class!! She was in my NT class last year with Hank Smith. :) It makes it fun to have friends in classes.

Next, at 1 on T,TH I have Polynesian Dancing!! SUCH a fun class! The hula section was fun, but I had trouble motivating myself to go to class... cuz we were still just working with kaholo. Over and over again. haha I was upset though, cuz apparently the dance department has this policy that no one can get an A on the first test. So I got a B on my hula test. I'm sorry... but that's just not right. :( I was really upset. hhh... But now we're on to New Zealand and it's been really fun to dance with Poi Balls and the clicker sticks!! I LOVE the sticks. But, I don't really like New Zealand Dancing. It's not very pretty, and just a lot of stomping. Which makes for hurting hips and ... nothing to show for it. But I got an A on my test... so I feel a little better. We got to watch 'Ha - the breath of life' in class. That was cool! :) And we watched a guy do the Haka. Dude... SO cool. haha and next week we have a written midterm, which is weird. But... It's good. haha All in all, I love this class and I plan on taking the advanced class next semester. :) LOVE IT.

Finally, I have Student Development. Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 6:20. UUUGGGHHH. It's a speed reading class. Worst. Class. Ever. The only good thing about it is having Katelin and laree in my class. I miss not having Katelin in all my classes. :( She switched out of the major... I'm so bummed. It's her birthday today!! (10.16) She's so much fun. But our teacher is slightly on the crazy side. She just rambles about nonsense and... there is SO much required for it and it's only a 2 credit class! I wish I audited it. But seriously - I think what makes it annoying is just that it's so long, and we never have enough material to cover the hour and 20 minutes, so she makes stuff up and goes over everything like 30 times. hhh... And, she takes attendance and docs points if we're late, or if we leave early. AND - we automatically loose 2 points every day unless we can somehow prove to her that we have earned them back. Who even does that in college? Ugh. Anyways... Lame class. But, I am learning good strategies for reading faster. So that's nice.

hhh... well, that about does it for my classes. It's been fun. Kind of. haha no, I really do like my classes. They're pretty fun. And I like all my teachers too. Kind of. So that's always nice. :) hmm... well... what is there to talk about besides school? I don't have any life besides my classes. SO - maybe I'll make stuff up.  haha kiddddding.

Besides school - I've just been... ya know... chillin. I got an All Sports Pass so I've had a ton of fun going to football games with Aaron. :) We FAILED miserably against U of U... so that was depressing. But the Utah State game was SO amazing!! haha we won in the last like... 18 seconds of the game. It was the most exciting thing ever!! and we rushed the field!! mwahaha!! So fun. And we've been doing pretty well ever since. Actually... I could be wrong. I have no idea whether or not we won yesterday. It was an away game... so I didn't really pay attention. OHP - I just looked. We won!! Against Oregon. HAHA

Well - Paigey is all moved away and teaching in France now! Isn't that crazy? I miss her so much. :( And Shelby is on a service mission in her hometown. :) She'll be back in Provo next semester and I CAN NOT wait. I miss her like madness. There are so many times when I'm like "I need to call Shelby" and I can't. :( Particularly now. I need to tell her everything. haha Well, here are a few fun pictures from this semester before Paige and Shelby left. They weren't around at the same time which was sad, but at least I got to see them both!! haha

This was the day Paigey left. :(
 Our epic guns once more.

Shelby got the nastiest ice cream EVER. I don't know what was wrong with it, but we were thoroughly disgusted. haha

Well, besides that... Laree and I have been having fun sharing a room. It's been interesting - to say the least - but it's been good. I like my roommates. Amber and Emily are sisters from North Dakota and they are SO much fun! Amber wants to do social work... i think... and Emily is studying Spanish. :) Allie is from Texas and is studying Plant and wildlife science. I had a TON of fun with Emily and Allie at the ... Mexican Carnival? I'm not sure what it was... it's was like the Latino carnival? Er sometin... But it was fun. We went on the Ferris Wheel and ate some dang good food! I got really cool ear rings, and there was just SUCH happy music everywhere. We had fun!
This is Emily and I on the Ferris Wheel... not the greatest pic, but fun.

We finally got a DVD player (THANK YOU to Aaron who is letting us borrow his!) so we had a movie night the other night and watched Dirty Dancing - Havana Nights. Now we all want to learn Salsa Dancing. haha Amber goes a lot - I just need to get up the courage and go with her. She's so fun!

Laree and I have been making visits to Enclave fairly recently. I miss it so much. :( The people there are just so fun and I miss Bishop Rust. People here are fun too -- but there is just something familiar about Enclave. It feels like home. Stonebridge doesn't feel like home. But... that's okay. Maybe someday.

All in all, I think this has been an incredibly random and slightly weird semester. But, I'm okay with random and weird. It's just that I can't really pinpoint why it's been weird. I think it's just so much new - No more Enclave, no familiar ward, no familiar classes, no familiar friends except Laree... Thank goodness for Laree. haha But anywhoo... it's been good. :) Not a ton to repot - but I swear, Human Anatomy is taking over my life!! haha I'm just so school focused this semester. Which is good. :) I'll post more laters.
